Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, says the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) will repeat its successes in 2015 and 2019 general elections at next year’s polls at all levels.
He was equally quick to add that the APC remained confident enough that what transpired in the last two general elections during which the APC candidates won at all levels in the state and indeed dominated the majority of others including the Federal Government would repeat itself.
Gov. Masari, who spearheads one of the departments in the ruling party’s Presidential Campaign Council and a close associate of the presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, made the assertion in Katsina yesterday (Tuesday), while presenting, for the last time, the draft annual budget of the Katsina State Government to members of the Katsina Assembly since 2015.
“As the 2023 elections draw nearer, I wish to call on the people of Katsina State to elect APC candidates at all levels for continuation of the people oriented projects, programmes and policies of the APC governments at all levels are implementing,” Masari added.
Prior to the primary elections during which candidates for various positions under the party’s platform, he disclosed, they organized prayer sessions and prayed Almighty to select the best candidates for the party in the state.
“Our prayers were answered and the best candidates in all elective positions emerged. I wish to call on those that lost to accept the will of God and try their luck next time,” Masari said.
He also harped on his performance as governor in the last seven and a half years, saying despite the challenges, the state government has successfully touched all sectors of the economy in general and restoration agenda in particular.
“I wish to assure the people of Katsina State that the present administration has done well within the available resources to uplift the living standard of the people. I am sure posterity will judge our government on the meaningful projects, programmes and policies implemented during its tenure as government of Katsina,” he stated.
He was optimistic that their performance in the first four years encouraged the people to elect APC for another term of four years, arguing: “We did not fail in our responsibilities to improve your lives and condition of livelihood with the available resources.”
Meanwhile, he said the 2023 budget tagged, “Budget of Transition,” had been designed to complete ongoing projects and initiate other capital projects that could be completed within the life of the current administration.
His words: “The total budget for the 2023 fiscal year is in the sum of N288,633,257,963 with 63.77 per cent capital expenditure and 36.23 per cent recurrent expenditure. In aggregate terms, the 2023 budget is lower than that of 2022 Revised Budget by N34,667,962,998.”
