The Governor of Delta State and Vice presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in 2023 Nigeria’s elections, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has stated that his principal, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is ready to ensure there is devolution of power across the various states of the Federation to tackle insecurity in the country if elected in 2023.
Okowa believed giving more power and resources to the States to have their own security architecture will go a long way in addressing the age long insecurity bedevilling Nigeria because the states are more closer to the grassroot.
The PDP presidential running mate gave the assurance over the weekend, when he officially unveiled Atiku Abubakar/Caleb Mutfwang campaign organization Secretariat in Jos, Plateau state capital.
Our correspondent observed that the Atiku/Mutfwang campaign edifice consist of 36 offices and a situation room.
He said when Nigerians trust Atiku with their mandate come 2023 presidential election, he will bring to bear his blueprint which encapsulates;economic reform, education, infrastructure, agriculture, health, job creation to address poverty and usher in growth and development in the country.
According to him, ” the first step to address insecurity is to take action by identifying the root cause of the challenge. Secondly is to create jobs for the people because people are hungry, to ensure there is food in their table and educate them.
“We understand the issues of farmers and herders, and we’re going to seat down with all the persons concern to avert such reoccurrence and taking that into consideration there is a need for the devolution of power which Atiku Abubakar stands for and that devolution of power is going to those states that are willing to create their own state police to be able to complement those at the Federal level in safeguarding their States and making sure people go about their normal businesses without their lives been harassed.”
“We will pay special attention to education because we believe the education of our children is very key. And we will do everything to promote the private sector, to lead the industrial sector to growth so that they can employ our people.
“We will get Nigeria back on track, away from the maladministration of APC Government because PDP is working
round the clock across the 36 States including the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja to ensure victory as the prospect is very clear”, Okowa mentioned.
He charged Atiku/Mutfwang campaign Council collectively work in unity by going to places, navigating and canvassing for votes to deliver PDP in 2023.
The governorship candidate of PDP in Plateau Barr. Caleb Mutfwang said he is optimistic and trusting on people’s mandate as they are fully prepared to change narrative of governance in the state.
He said it is time to take responsibility to deliver Plateau and Nigeria for PDP and safe the citizens from excruciating pains which the APC administration brought to the country.
