Ebonyi proposes N 139.39 billion budget for 2023 Fiscal Year

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has presented a budget of N139.39 billion to the State House of Assembly.

 

Presenting the budget tagged “Budget of Consolidation and Continuity to  members at the Assembly Complex Nkaliki on Monday, Umahi said that N58.367 bn  representing 42 percent was for recurrent expenditure , while N81.030 billion or 58 percent was for Capital projects.

 

The Governor said that the Fiscal Policy thrust was predicated on the following namely Education Growth, Health Care Development, Infrastructure Development and Consolidation and Transition.

 

‘Our mission is to mobilize the Human Resources in the State to harness all its God given resources to create and use wealth for individual happiness”

 

Umahi announced that the State Fiscal Policy is envisaged to control and enforce compliance with established spending limits to achieve a sound budgetary system.

 

In the 2023 Sectoral Budget, Administrative Sector got a total of N31.702 bn, covering 22.74 percent of the budget.

 

“Ecoomic Sector have a total of N70.588bn, Regional Sector N57.9 bn, Social Sector N33.987 bn,

 

He explained that in the proposed budget, the government plans to commence the setting up of the two universities, ICT University at Oferekpe Izzi and Aeronautical University at Ezza.

 

Acording to him, ” the current government will implement 41.67 percent of the budget, while the next administration 58.33 percent of the total budget”

 

‘We expect that this institutions will train students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning among others.

 

*14 critical sub-sectors got s total of got a total sum of N121.51bn covering 87 percent , while other sub-sectors have a total sum of N17.887 bn covering 13 percent.”

 

“The Recurrent expenditure size of the 14 heavy -spending MDAs is N48.213 bn”

 

“The Capital expenditure size of the 14 heavy spending MDAs is N73.297 bn’

 

Umahi explained that the proposed budget has MDAs that will be spending higher than others because of the determinaion of government to complete projects.
