Gov.Umahi assents to  2021  Appropriation bill of N122.852 billion passed by  Ebonyi  Assembly

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State on Tuesday assented to the 2021 Appropriation bill of N122.852 billion for the Fiscal year passed by the State House of Assembly.

 

Umahi had on 15th December 2020 presented the 2021 appropriation bill to the State Lawmakers  for approval.

 

The Budget was  tagged “Budget of Stabilization and Consolidation in a Recession ”

 

Earlier before assenting to the bill, Governor Umahi said that Education Sector received the highest allocation  of N23.913 billion of the budget estimate and commended members of the State House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the appropriation bill.

 

He disclosed that a total of N73.711 billion as been earmarked for Capital Expenditure while the sum of N49.141 billion  has been mapped out for Recurrent Expenditure representing 40 percent of the total budget.

 

He commended the harmonious relationship existing between the Executive, legislature and the Judiciary organ of government stating “the legislature is pivotal to nation’s development, all hands must be on deck”

 

Other focus of the budget include N42.61 billion for Human Capital Development, health N18.78 billion, while Works and Housing received 7.19 percent of the budget.

 

Umahi reiterated that the government was desirous in the completion of the Airport Project, Stadium,  dualization of the Abakaliki -Afikpo Federal Highway inaddition to the Multi-million naira Shopping Mall before the end of the administration in 2023.

 

“With the assent to this bill today, the stage is now set for the completion of all ongoing projects, and the delivery of democratic dividends to the people of the State”

 

Speaking while presenting the approved budget documents to Governor Umahi for assent, the Speaker Hon Francis Nwifuru assured that the Lawmakers would partner with the Executive inorder to speed up rapid development of the State .
