Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, has directed security agencies to fish out the perpetrators, that allegedly murdered the traditional ruler of Umuezekaha community Ezza North Local government Eze Igboke Ewa.
Umahi issued the order in his office New Government House Centenary City Abakaliki, on Tuesday while briefing newsmen .
It was gathered that Eze Igboke Ewa was killed on Monday night in the community by gunmen, for allegedly refusing to support a particular political party in the February 25th general election.
The State Chief Executive described the death of the traditional ruler as disturbing and shocking.
*Last night, I received ugly news about the murder of Eze Igboke Ewa, who until his death, was the Chairman traditional rulers council of Ezza North Local Government Area.
*I have directed the Commissioner of Police to fish out the perpetrators and their sponsors, no life worth being wasted because of political office*
*The death is disturbing, the security agencies should do the needful, it is shocking*
Umahi appealed to political candidates to stop importing people to stage demonstrations in the State.
On the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly election held last Saturday, Umahi insisted that the government was challenging the reports of the Senatorial and House of Representative .
*The reality of what happened is that BIVAS was bypassed, in some places, you have accredited voters not allowed to vote*
Speaking against the backdrop of the role of security agencies in the conduct of the election, Umahi charged them to be neutral.
*The conduct of security agencies left much to be desired, some of them attached to personalities, göt indulged in thumb printing of ballot papers*
Governor Umahi called on the citizenry to remain calm, I have reached out to my colleagues in other zones of the country to protect our people
*South -easterners living in other geo-political zones , should go about their normal businesses, I will continue to be in touch with all the security Chiefs both at the National Level”
He appealed to Political Leaders to stop making provocative statements, urging the youths to shun taking the lives of others.
“The security agencies are not being fair, I have said that the perpetrators be arrested, the security agencies should do the right thing”
” The only way to avert this is for the security agencies to do their work, if they had done their work, it would have been averted”
