The mother of the junior male student of Deeper life High School, Akwa Ibom state, whose story of sexual harassment by the senior students in the dormitory has gone viral on the social media, has called for investigation into the matter to unravel motives behind the action.
Due to the uproar and fuss the story has generated, the governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel this week ordered the commissioner for education, Dr. Mrs. Mbobo to commence a full scale investigation into the matter with a view to bringing the culprits to book.
Checks by Daily Champion Newspapers reveal that since three days ago the victim in question, had been hospitalized at undisclosed health center in Uyo where he is receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the attack.
A source from the school which craved anonymity, said after the boy was thoroughly bullied by the senior students for undisclosed reasons, he was dragged inside the dormitory where undisclosed number of the senior boys sexually abused him through the anus.
The mother whose Identity was protected just like the boy’s, had an anonymous call that something sinister had befallen her ward in the dormitory and had to rush to the school only to find her child behaving in a strange way.
The woman who immediately broke into tears because of the incident was therefore very happy when she heard that the Governor had ordered investigation into the matter.
“I’m very glad that His Excellency Deacon Udom Emmanuel has ordered investigation into the matter. I would like him to extend the order to other boarding schools in the the state because what students do nowadays in the dormitories is, to say the least, appalling.
In this hard time, for a parent to muster resources to send his or her ward to boarding school is no mean feat. They should allow the children to have peace of mind,” said the woman.
It is no more news that incidence of this nature is very common among the mission schools in the state. Not too long ago, an all girls mission school name withheld was also involved in a sex scandal that also went viral on the social media space. This could perhaps be attributable to tight security in these schools which doesn’t allow the students to break bounds at will and have fun outside.
