Commissioner canvasses media partnership to ensure transparency, good governance in Ebonyi

The Commissioner for Works and Transport Ebonyi State, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, has solicited the partnership of media practitioners to ensure transparency and good governance.

Engr Mbam made the assertion in his office at Centenary city Abakaliki, when members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) paid him a courtesy visit.

He reiterated the commitment of the Ministry to form a synergy with the media to fast track its programmes and policies.

“It is good to always have a synergy with every agency and your own is a very special one; your pen is very wonderful, you people promote the activities of government and individual performances.

“I also want you to know that we are willing to work with you, we will thrive to make sure that the government of Ebonyi State under Engr Francis Ogbanna Nwifuru succeeds”, he said.

Earlier in a remark, the Chairman of Correspondents Chapel of NUJ, Comrade Uchenna Inya, described the appointment of Engr. Mbam as ideal.

Comrade Inya assured the Commissioner that journalists in the State would give adequate reportage to activities of the Ministry and the State government at large.

“Your appointment is one of the best His Excellency the Governor made since his assumption of office. You have been in the engineering sector, you have the experience and the capacity to turn things around in the Works sector and you have started very well. We do not engage in destructive journalism, we are journalists that have content and character, our publications are based on facts”, he said.

In attendance during the event were the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Monday Nnana Nkwuda, Special Assistant to Governor Nwifuru on Transport, Mr. Fred Nwogbaga, Director of Administration, Anioke Ezeogo Nnana, Head of Mechanical Department, Engr. Hassan Egwu and Head of Department, Mr. Ikechukwu Oko Agha, among others.
