Men of Operation Safe Heaven; the multi security task force maintaining peace in Plateau, Southern Kaduna and parts of Bauchi State have apprehended Bawa Nabiki, the herder indicted in a Daily Trust investigation published on Saturday.

Bawa Nabiki, popularly known as Gwaska, from Ikulu community in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State was arrested on Saturday afternoon. The arrest came a few hours after a Daily Trust investigation on Saturday indicted Bawa for shooting a farmer in 2022.

In the Daily Trust investigation, Bawa’s father, Nabiki Mohammed had confirmed that he sold 10 cows to settle the matter with security agents after which his son was released.

However, residents of Ikulu community yesterday described Bawa as a known criminal that has escaped justice for a long time.

Attempts to get Bawa’s father, Nabiki Mohammed yielded no response as he did not answer his calls.

However, OPSH Media and Information Officer, Oya James confirmed the arrest of Bawa saying he was arrested on Saturday, October 28 for alleged robbery and other criminal offences.

He said Bawa is currently held at Operation Safe Heaven Sector Seven headquarters in Kafanchan, Kaduna State while investigation is ongoing before he will be arraigned in court.

The media information officer reported that recent operations conducted by the task force had resulted in several arrests within southern Kaduna region including “gun-runners, kidnappers and armed robbers.”
