4 killed as suspected gunmen attack Ebonyi community

Four persons have been confirmed dead around 2 am on Monday morning, when unknown gunmen attacked Umuoguduakpu Ngbo community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Mr Aliyu Garba, told newsmen at the Command Headquarters abakaliki that the command was aware of the attack but was yet to get details of the reports.

According to him, “On level of the effects of the attack, it is yet to be ascertained; we are yet to get any report from there and I have not been around, I am waiting for report from there,” he said.

In an interview, the State Commissioner for Border, Peace and Conflict Resolution Mr Stanley Emegha, said that the Government was making reports they received from the area.

“Right now we do not know whether it is herdsmen or some other person, until we gather our findings”

“Government has deployed security agencies; normalcy has been restored in the area”

“Soldiers on the field said one person was killed, the person I called said three persons were killed, we are doing something to know whether it was herdsmen attack”

“This is an area we have been having shooting with Agila people of Benue State, before now there has been killing in the area; the soldiers on ground repelled them, they had to run into Benue State ”

The Commissioner said that the State Government was doing something to ascertain whether it was herdsmen attack or Agila people because of the long time issue we had before now.
