Rivers killings, LG arson: Judicial panel summons pro-Wike lawmaker, 108 others

The Rivers State Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Monday October 7, 2024 killings, burning of three local government secretariats and wanton destruction and looting of many other LGAs in the state has summoned a Pro-Wike lawmaker in the Assembly, Hon. Aforji Igwe and 108 others some to appear before it.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Port Harcourt by the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Justice Ibiwengi Roseline Minakiri.
Among those summoned by the Justice Commission are four immediate past local government Chairmen loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike which includes; Dr. Samuel Nwanosike of Ikwerre Council, and his counterparts in Eleme, Ahoada East and Ahoada West namely; Obarilomate Ollor, Barr. Benjamin Eke and Evangelist Hope Ikiriko respectively.
The statement reads, “Pursuant to the call and receipt of Memoranda by the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into arson, killings and wanton destruction of property at Local Government Council Headquarters in Rivers State, the following persons are hereby summoned to appear as scheduled below.”
The Commission in it’s timetable as listed in the statement said it would on October 30 meet with witnesses from Ikwerre LGA, while November 1, 4 and 5 is for those summoned from Eleme and 6th November for witnesses from Khana LGA.
While witnesses from Emuoha LGA will appear before commission on 7th November, those from Obio/Akpor and Ahead East appears 8th November, those from other LGAs will be accommodated on November 11, 2024.

The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara to inquire into the arson, killings and wanton destruction of properties at some LGA Headquarters, which occurred on or about Monday, 7th October 2024, sitting at Rivers State Judicial Commission: Hon. Justice I. R. Minakiri’s Court, Block C, Court 14, Rivers State High Court Complex, Port Harcourt, at 9 O’clock.
“To give evidence and or tender document(s) in respect of the inquiry. Therefore, do not fail, as it may be at your peril.
“You are required to bring with you any evidence to establish your case.”
