…Dismantle Syndicate Terrorizing Mararraba-Donga-Takum Road

In a daring operation, operatives of the Taraba State Police Command successfully stormed a kidnappers’ den in Zambana Forest, rescuing seven hostages after a fierce encounter with the criminals.
The rescue mission, led by the Mararraba Donga Division in collaboration with hunters and vigilantes, was carried out on January 30, 2025, following credible intelligence.
SP Abdullahi Usman, the Police Public Relations Officer, detailed the operation in a statement on Monday:
“Acting on credible information, the DPO of Mararraba Donga mobilized a team for a rescue operation in Zambana Forest. The team encountered the kidnappers, who fled under intense gunfire, abandoning the victims. As a result, seven kidnapped individuals were rescued unharmed.”
The rescued victims were identified as:
Lookman Adamu Abdullahi (27), Abdulmalik Sani (24), and Salisu Musa (32) from Jalingo LGA.
Hussaini Musa (35) and Yusuf Musa (21) from Bissula Village, Kurmi LGA.
Rimamshong Sunday (42) from Lissam, Ussa LGA.
Eze Ifeanyi (38) from Maihula, Bali LGA.
Further Operations Yield Success
On January 31, another joint operation led by ASP Nuhu Barde in a forest bordering Plateau State forced the kidnappers to abandon their captive, Lamido Sarkin Fulani, who had been tied up by the criminals.
The victim was rescued unhurt and taken to the Andami Primary Healthcare Centre for medical evaluation.
Commending the operatives for their bravery and dedication, Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP Ukachi P. Opara, praised the collaborative efforts of the police, hunters, and vigilantes.
He emphasized the command’s resolve to protect the state from kidnappings and other criminal activities, urging residents to remain law-abiding and provide actionable information to help apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the criminals responsible for the abductions.
