Empowering Women, celebrating progress: Continental Hotel commemorates International Women’s Day

Continental Hotel hosted a distinguished gathering of exceptional women and influential guests to celebrate International Women’s Day, highlighting its commitment to gender equality and empowering women.
The event, which was held at one of the hotels under the group – Abuja Continental , celebrated the achievements of women across all fields ,reflecting the hotel’s dedication to promoting Ng gender equity and progress .
In his keynote address, Karl Hala, Group General Manager of Continental Hotel, applauded the remarkable women in attendance for their outstanding contributions.
“Tonight, we gather to honour your strength, resilience, and determination,” Hala said.
He praised the women for their profound impact across various sectorfrom policy-making to business leadership.
Hala expressed deep admiration for the women’s capabilities, noting, “You excel in so many roles—driving economic growth, shaping industries, and inspiring the next generation—all while radiating elegance, charm, and flair.” With a light-hearted remark, he added, “If multitasking were an Olympic sport, Nigerian women would surely take the gold.”
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Accelerate Action,” resonated strongly with the audience.
Hala emphasized the transformative influence women in leadership have, stating, “When women lead, progress accelerates. You don’t wait for change; you make it happen.”
He urged all women to continue pushing boundaries, shining brightly, and accelerating progress for a more inclusive future.
“When women take the wheel, things move forward,” he said.
“We must keep striving and ensure that every woman and girl has the right to dream, the power to act, and the platform to rise—because when one woman moves forward, we all move forward.”
Hala also highlighted Continental Hotel Group’s ongoing commitment to gender equality.
“We have women in leadership positions, including on our board of directors, and we’ve implemented policies to support women’s growth, like a nursery for working mothers,” he noted.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including government officials, business leaders, and celebrities, who applauded the hotel group’s efforts to foster gender equity.
Violet Olalekan-Alabi, a financial wellness advocate, shared her thoughts, saying, “It’s inspiring to see a hospitality leader like Continental Hotel Group championing gender equity.”
In his closing remarks, Hala reaffirmed the hotel’s year-round dedication to inclusivity and women’s development. “Women are integral to shaping the hospitality industry,” he stated.
“We are committed to providing them with the opportunities and support they need to succeed.”
