The Women in Energy Network (WIEN) has commemorated its 5th anniversary with the successful conclusion of its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), where members reflected on significant milestones, reviewed strategic achievements, and formally announced newly elected board members who will steer the network into its next phase of growth.
In her remarks, the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Mrs. Cecilia Aqua-Umoren, applauded the Network’s resilience, visibility and sector-wide influence over the past year. While noting her unavoidable absence, she extended warm greetings to members, describing the AGM as both a celebration of progress and a defining moment for new leadership transitions.
“The past year has been one of growth, strategic engagement, and continued visibility for WIEN across the energy sector,” she said, commending executives, volunteers and programme leads for driving impact across the energy value chain. She emphasized that the decisions taken at the AGM—including elections and deliberations—would shape the next phase of WIEN’s journey.
From the President’s AGM address, WIEN confirmed remarkable growth in membership, announcing that the network has now surpassed the 1,000-member mark with a total of 1,108 registered members, alongside the addition of four new corporate members—NNPC Retail Limited, Lonadek Global Services, Tenaris Nigeria, and TotalEnergies.
The year under review also reflected an extensive footprint in capacity-building, advocacy and STEM-focused outreach. Through masterclasses, webinars, industry conferences, and grassroots mentorship programmes, WIEN provided training in finance, cybersecurity, technology, energy literacy and mental health awareness. Career fairs in Lagos and Port Harcourt introduced government schoolgirls to STEM pathways and female role models within the energy sector.
The Network also strengthened its influence across local and international platforms, participating in events including N.I.E.S, SAIPEC, NOG Energy Week, OTC, NAICE SPE, the Gas Investment Forum and Africa Energy Week, among others—further positioning WIEN as a leading voice for women in energy.
Meanwhile, the WIEN Electoral Committee released its certified results, confirming a smooth and transparent e-voting system that recorded 103 total votes cast. The Committee announced the following elected officials who will assume leadership roles from 2025:

With a growing membership base, increased visibility, and strengthened partnerships, WIEN enters 2026 positioned for deeper impact and industry-wide transformation.
