Nigeria is redefining its role in the global energy landscape at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2026, pivoting from a local supplier to a premier global partner. The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) is utilizing the Houston stage to showcase the technical prowess of indigenous firms, aiming to turn local expertise into high-value international investments.
With the theme focusing on “Africa’s Energy Transformation: Scaling Investment, Technology, and Local Capacity for Sustainable Growth,” PETAN is steering the narrative that indigenous capacity is now the foundational pillar of Nigeria’s energy future.
“Our participation goes beyond visibility; it is about demonstrating that Nigerian firms are ready for serious global partnerships,” said Dr. Joan Faluyi, PETAN Publicity Secretary.
PETAN Executive Secretary, Mr. Eloka Ejeh, emphasized that years of investing in technology and skills have yielded competitive, high-performance results. He challenged international Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to move beyond transactional roles and form strategic, equal-term alliances.
“Local expertise should be seen as an advantage, not a limitation,” Ejeh added.
Also, speaking, Okey Ukeagbu, Conference Chairman, PETAN noted that organising Nigeria’s presence at OTC 2026 has been a deliberate effort to ensure that every session, every conversation, and every engagement delivers real value for our members and for the broader industry.
From the formal opening of the Nigerian Pavilion to the African Energy Forum and the OEM Investment Forum, we have structured a programme that creates genuine opportunities for dialogue, partnerships, and deal-making. My expectation is simple — that delegates leave Houston with more than impressions; they leave with commitments.”Ukeagbu stated
PETAN Chairman, Mr. Wole Ogunsanya, highlighted that OTC 2026 marks a, “decisive moment,” to assert Nigerian companies as leaders in Africa’s energy transition.
“We are here to influence decisions, not merely participate,” Ogunsanya stated. He highlighted upcoming strategic engagements, including the African Energy Forum and the NCDMB–OEM Investment Forum, designed to convert interest into tangible, long-term partnerships.
Representing a diverse range of services—from engineering and logistics to reservoir management—PETAN is making it clear that Nigeria is ready for sustainable, global energy collaboration.
