At Heirs Energies, responsible energy development means improving how we operate, making better use of our resources, protecting our people and contributing to the development of our host communities.
As we mark World Sustainability Day, we highlight the work underway across four key areas of our business.
A. Purpose | Delivering Energy Responsibly
Our approach to Brownfield Excellence is focused on improving asset performance, optimising production and unlocking greater value from existing resources.

In December 2025, the NNPC/Heirs Energies OML 17 Joint Venture signed Gas Flare Commercialisation Agreements with five approved flare gas offtakers under the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialisation Programme (NGFCP) and approved non-NGFCP frameworks. The agreements provide a pathway to commercialise flare gas for productive applications, promoting resource efficiency and environmental stewardship.
B. Planet | Protecting Our Environment
Our environmental responsibility extends beyond our production operations. Through the Agbada Green Corridor Initiative, launched in June 2026, Heirs Energies is transforming approximately 1 km of the Agbada Non-Associated Gas Corridor in Omuohia, Rivers State, through tree planting and environmental restoration.
Implemented in partnership with the Rivers State Ministry of Environment and SHERDA, with support from the OML 17 HCDT and community stakeholders, the initiative has established 452 trees across six species, with an estimated annual carbon-sequestration potential of 5.4 tonnes of CO₂e.
C. People | Creating Opportunities and Protecting Lives
Through the NNPC/Heirs Energies OML 17 Joint Venture and the HCDT, we support development initiatives across 80 host communities in Rivers State, spanning education, healthcare and essential community infrastructure.
