..says outfit backed by Law
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has inaugurated 1,870 members of Ebubeagu Security Outfit with a charge on the Corps to subject themselves to Police control.
Speaking while inaugurating the Corps on Wednesday at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium abakaliki. Umahi said that the outfit must operate within the confines of the law.
Umahi said that south-East Governor’s will not fold it’s hand and watch insecurity triumph in the zone.
He said that anybody that challenged the existence of the Outfit can go to court.
“Outfit not politically motivated, this Outfit will never be disbanded, ”
According to him, “Ebubeagu Outfit is under the tutelage and control of the Police”
“It became necessary that South-East Governors in April 2021 set up a Security Outfit to assist the Police in the zone’
“It is my therefore my pleasure to the Glory of God , together with Executive Council members , Executive Council to Launch “Ebubeagu South-East Security Ebonyi State Command,”
“To checkmate the excesses, we have the Provost, appointed by the Command, people can send Complaints for any infringement”
Earlier in a speech, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Internal Secretary Barrister Ogbonnaya Ota, said that Ebubeagu Eastern Security Ebonyi Command was a creation of Ebonyi State Law 005 of 2021.
“The Command has a Structure that provide for a State Commander, Zonal Commanders and Urban Commander ”
“There is the need to officially inaugurate the Command in line with the provision of the law”
The inauguration of the Outfit was witnessed by members of the State Executive Council, Security Agencies, Police, members of Ebubeagu Outfit, among others.
