An Anambra High court sitting in Awka, state capital and Presided over by Justice Peace Odi, Tuesday reversed the sack of the traditional ruler of Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area, Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo, by ordering warring parties in the suit to maintain status quo pending the determination of the substantive suit.
Igwe Chijioke dragged the Governor, Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice and Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council to court in the suit No. A/57/2021.
He prayed the court among other reliefs, to set aside the certificate of recognition issued to Igwe Dan Obelle by the previous administration as the monarch of Nawfia community.
He pleaded to the court also for an interlocutory injuction restraining Chief Obelle from parading himself as the traditional ruler of the community.
In his ruling Tuesday, the judge ordered that both parties should maintain status quo pending the determination of the substantive suit.
He ruled also that nobody should parade or do anything as the Monarch of the community pending the determination of the substantive suit.
Recall that the immediate past administration of former Governor Willie Obiano withdrew certificate of recognition issued to Igwe Chijioke and presented certificate of recognition to Chief Dan Obelle as the new monarch..
