Access to Electricity is one of the Cardinal Agenda of President Tinubu- NDPHC MD

As part of nation-wide tour of its power plants across Nigeria, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Engr. Jennifer Adighije, pointed out clearly that electricity is one of the cardinal agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
This is because access of electricity to Nigerians is not a privilege but a right. “Therefore the vision of the new management of NDPHC is to ensure it foster energy security for Nigerians by bringing electricity to vulnerable Nigerians in underserved communities.”
“This is why we are here to ensure that we are building capacity of all our assets to meet the access gap in the market.”
According to the NDPHC boss, Federal Government has promised to ensure energy security within the framework of President Tinubu Renewed Hope Agenda.
She gave assurance that NDPHC under her management was focused on achieving significant power generation level for the country.
“There is a linkage between adequate power supply and socioeconomic development and NDPHC is available to help the states in a transparent and legal manner” she stated.
She explained that the new executive management team of the company was determination to recalibrate NDPHC, the biggest integrated power company in Nigeria to regain its pride of place in electricity industry.
According to her, with the directive of Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) for electricity distribution companies to sign bilateral agreements with generation companies, NDPHC was ready and have electricity to supply to entities including business clusters and other users.
She said President Tinibu is vividly committed toward achieving energy security as the sector is the key driving force in ensuring the success of the renewed hope agenda.
Earlier while briefing the new management led by Adighije, Chief Operating Officer, COO, of the Calabar Generation Company, Egnr. Bex Ayoade, appealed for management support to ensure that the power plant attained ISO, certification to enable the plant to be managed in accordance with international best practices obtained in the sector.
Narrating the challenges facing the company ,Engr Ayoade also appealed that greater attention be paid to staff welfare through prompt payment of salaries, and the unification of the salary incremental structure among the various workers operating in the plant.
He also drew attention to the need to decentralise the procurement of consumables like tools, and spare parts to enhance efficient service delivery by the power generating company.
