Axxela Limited, a leading gas and power portfolio company in sub-Saharan Africa, has received two major recognitions for its outstanding contribution to Nigeria’s energy transition and long-standing commitment to sustainable energy access for industrial development.
The company emerged as the Winner, Carbon Reduction & Clean Energy Leader of the Year and Runner-Up, Most Sustainable Company of the Year at the 2025 Social Impact and Sustainability Awards (SISA), organised by CSR Reporters.
Through the expansion of its natural gas infrastructure and the delivery of cleaner energy to over 200 industrial customers, Axxela has helped reduce more than 703,000 tonnes of CO₂ in a single year, one of the largest private-sector-driven sustainability achievements in Nigeria.
Additionally, Axxela’s EcoVadis Gold Rating, which places it among the top 5% of companies assessed globally across key ESG pillars, underscores the company’s commitment to transitioning industries from heavy fuels to cleaner, more cost-efficient energy solutions while also enhancing responsible industrial practices.
Commenting on the dual recognitions, Timothy Ononiwu, Group Chief Executive Officer of Axxela Limited, said, “These recognitions validate our long-term vision for sustainability and cleaner energy delivery. We remain committed to expanding our impact across Nigeria’s industrial sector and accelerating the nation’s low-carbon transition. Our approach to sustainability is practical, intentional, and deeply rooted in the way we serve our customers across diverse industries.”
Reinforcing this perspective, Tuoyo Ejueyitchie, Director of Corporate Operations, Axxela, highlighted the significance of the company’s sustainability and ESG achievements. “For us at Axxela, we are proud that our sustainability and ESG strategies are yielding measurable results. We believe that true operational excellence means delivering value responsibly, balancing environmental stewardship, social impact, and sound governance to create long-term sustainability for our stakeholders.”
With strategic investments in gas distribution and growing integrated energy solutions, Axxela continues to shape a cleaner, more efficient industrial future for Nigeria.
