Coal City University matriculates 201 Students.

No fewer than 201 matriculants were admitted by the Management of Coal City University Enugu during the 5th Matriculation ceremony of the institution.
Addressing the fresh students on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Afam Icha Ituma, described the event as an annual academic rite-of-passage when new students were formally inducted into the institution.
Professor Ituma disclosed that the 201 students were admitted into the university’s three faculties namely Faculty of Applied and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences and Faculty of Education.
” The students scaled through the stringent admissions requirements of the university,  a maximum of 30 students per class to maintain its traditional small class sizes for effective teaching and learning”
The Vice Chancellor charged the newly admitted students not to focus on memorizing extant knowledge to pass examinations, rather they should prioritize thinking through problems, all round skills development and knowledge acquisition for self actualization.
“You will have access to the excellent learning and Research Facilities in the university,  over 60 world class scholars trained in top universities in Canada, the United States, United Kingdom and Australia  were recently  engaged by the institution”
“The university has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)  with Delaware State University (USA) for an International Pathway  programme.
“This University has zero tolerance for  indiscipline, truancy, examination malpractice and cultism,  75 percent lecture attendance is the minimum prerequisite to writing examinations in the university”
Earlier in an address Governor Ifeanyi Ifeanyi of Enugu State, represented by the Executive Secretary, Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board, Barr Levi Agbom,  urged students to work hard in order to maximize opportunities in the Board and access their scholarships and loans to meet their educational needs.
In attendance during the ceremony included the University  Pro-Chancellor  Professor Chinedu Nebo, Dean’s of Faculties, Heads of Departments,  Representative of Enugu State Governor and Principal Officers of the institution among others.
It would be recalled that since the take off of Coal City University Enugu in 2016, the institution had maintained a stable Academic Calendar and has adopted Blended Learning pedagogy which involves delivery of Lectures face face and on-line.
