Ebonyi 6th Assembly enacts 76 Laws in four years (2019- date )…Speaker Nwifuru

The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Hon Francis Nwifuru, has disclosed that the Lawmakers enacted 76 Legislations within the period (2019 -date ).

 

Hon Nwifuru who is the Governor-elect of Ebonyi State (under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), made the disclosure at the Assembly Complex Abakaliki, on Thursday on the occasion of the valedictory session of the House .

 

He outlined the laws to include Ebonyi State School of Health Sciences/Technology  Law No 001 of 2019, State Investment Promotion, Investors Protection (No 002), Ebonyi State Peace Law (2019), College of Nursing/Midwifery law 2020, State University of ICT Science /Technology law 2021, Ebonyi State Anti-Corruption and Public Complaints law 2022 among others.

 

According to him, “Of this 76 laws, 24 percent are hinged on Governance, Administration, and Accountability, 20 percent are for the improvement of the Businesses and economy of the State”

 

“17.1 percent are geared towards achieving quality Education in the state, 10.5 percent of these laws were made to entrench Peace, Justice and security”

 

“Within the last four years, we have meticulously in strict observance of the Rule of Law and Budget Estimates, presented by the Chief Executive, tackled three (3) Supplementary Budgets (2019, 2021, 2022 and two Revised budgets (2020 and 2021).

 

“Internally as an institution, we developed the Structural ambience, value and productivity of the State House of Assembly through various projects”

 

Hon Nwifuru reiterated that the achievements of the Assembly would be delusional without the convivial synegy, we have enjoyed from the Executive and Judicial Arms of government.

 

“We appreciate our father Governor David Umahi, for his unwavering respect for the Principles of  Separation of Power”

 

Highlights of the occasion were remarks by each of the lawmakers extolling the leadership qualities of Hon Francis Nwifuru.

 

The occasion had in attendance the deputy Speaker Hon Kingsley Ịkọrọ, the House Leader Hon Victor Chukwu, Hon Ọnụ Nwoye, Hon Anthony Nwegede, Hon Joseph Nnunu,  Hon Chinedu Awoh, and Hon Arinze Chukwu Lucas respectively.
