Equity market sustains bearish run, sheds N16 bn

Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed lower Tuesday, shedding N16 billion.

 

Specifically, Market Capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.10 per cent to N21.474 trillion from N21.490 trillion reported the previous day.

 

The NSE All Share Index also depreciated by 30.75 basis points to 41051.63 points from 41082.38 points traded on Monday.

 

Investors traded 525.006 million shares valued at N5.337 billion in 5965 deals.

 

An analysis of the investment showed that Nigerian Breweries led gainers table during the day, gaining N1.00 to close at N61.00, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of N1.00 to close at N32.00, Northern Nigeria Flour Mill gained N0 59 kobo to close at N8.00, Wapco added N0.50 kobo to close at N24.50 kobo while Presco gained N0.50 kobo to close at N74.50 kobo.

 

On the contrary, Ardova Plc topped losers chart, dropping N1.70 kobo to close at N18.00, BUACement trailed with a loss of N0.90 kobo to close at N1.79 kobo, UACN fell by N0.45 kobo to close at N7.90 kobo, Access Bank down by N0.35 kobo to close at N9.25 kobo, Redstarex dipped by N0.20 kobo to close at N3.30 kobo.

 

The result further showed that

Transnational Corporation  of Nigeria was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 42.940 million shares worth N50.240 million, Japaul Gold followed with account of 39.588 million shares cost N50.871 million, Zenith Bank traded 28.524 million shares cost N745.993 million, Buacement Plc exchanged 25.699 million shares valued at N2.048 billion while Courteville traded 21.974 million shares cost N5.327 million.
