The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have sealed a 4-floor commercial complex in Abuja for illegal conversion.

Muktar Galadima, director of the FCTA ordered the seal off of the entire site on Wednesday.

He noted that the building’s approval was specifically granted for residential blocks, but the developers illegally modified the plan, converting it to a commercial complex.

“From what we have discovered, they want to add a sit-out floor, which will mean an additional load,” he said.

‘That is why we are taking this action, because when something happens, it is the authority that will be blamed.”

Also speaking, Hauwa Tundunwada, the Deputy Director of Department, stated that the additional floor was illegally constructed.

She added that the exercise would be carried out at other building sites, to checkmate what developers are doing and sanction defaulters accordingly.
