Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso on Tuesday expressed hope that the State Governor would emerge victorious on March 11 gubernatorial election, saying Lagos is so sophisticated for any novice to rule.

Omotoso gave the remark during a press conference with newsmen where he noted that Lagosians would re-elect Sanwo-Olu for a second term in office because of his performance.

He believes that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC is still very strong in the State, adding that the party had taken note of some shortcomings in the last election that was being addressed.

The Commissioner said, “The party has a kind of machinery to resolve friction. We have the office of civic organization. It is saddled with the responsibility of engaging with the public.

“If you have a doctor that diaginoses a patient, the next thing he would do is to go to laboratory. When you see the result, it is not for the doctor to start panicking. Lagosians are discerning people who understand what Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu is doing. He has nothing to fear. They are ready to vote him. There’s no room for panic, they believe Mr Governor can still do more. What happened on Saturday is not insurmountable.”

He further argued, “When you have emotion, logic is thrown out but truth remains the truth. It is not something that is tragic, it is the beauty of democracy. I want to tell you that APC is still very in charge n Lagos State.

“It is not every time that you found the best sprinter scoring the goal, that best sprinter would have to still prove his point.

” Lagos is too complex for novices, Lagosians will go with Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu. It is not fair that Lagos would have to elect people based on religion or tribe. Lagos is very sophisticated, they can’t take us back to the dark age we have forgotten.”

He debunked the insinuation that the Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat was attacked at the party Secretariat, describing it as a fallacy.

“The report that the Deputy Governor was attacked is mere fallacy. He goes to the party Secretariat all the time. There is nobody who can attack him.”

He stressed that in every human society, there was always friction, adding “There are bound to have frictions. APC is the biggest in the State and country so we have the belief that people should not panic, it can also be settled.”

He explained that some had complained about the reward system, the Commissioner recalled that when the Governor came into office he had to battle the issue of potholes across the State because it was during raining season.

He explained that the Governor had to attend to the problem of potholes and suddenly the COVID-19 came on board and that also affected the State.

He however assured that the state government would reintroduce the Town Hall meeting where people could ventilate their minds.
