INEC commends Abians for protecting their votes, urges Nigerians to imbibe Abia formulary

INEC has commended Abians for showing Nigerians how to vote and protect their votes while recommending to the Nation the Abia state formular and political sagacity.

The National Commissioner of INEC  and chairman information and Voter Education committee Barrister Festus Okoye,who made the disclosure at the Ochendo International conference center Umuahia during the occasion of issuance of certificates of return to House of Assembly members-elect, said democracy can grow where people will vote and protect their votes, said,”I am believing that other Nigerians will learn from Abians.

 Speaking further, he called on the House of Assembly members elect to ensure that they carry out their responsibility of legislation with commitment, noted that there are glamour as well as responsibility in the position they have been elected into, while urging them to ensure that as they are enjoying the glamour associated with the position, they should as well learn to take the responsibilities that come with it

Okoye reminded that the job of legislation is a huge responsibility and that there are high expectations from them, said that they can not afford to disappoint Ndi Abia who elected them

 He charged new entrants to master the act of legislation as quick as possible ,added that,” we must continue to nurture  our electoral process and democracy, even as he advised all the Stakeholders to be abreast with the electoral process and that INEC will continue to serve the people of Nigeria diligently.

 In his speech the Administrative secretary INEC Abia state,Mr Clement Oha said election in Abia has been adjudged as one of the best in the country, explained that the celebration that followed the announcement of the winner of the Governorship election in Abia show that INEC did well and that the will of the people prevailed .

He said out of the 24 members elected  in Abia state,11 members are of the PDP ,10 members are of the Labour party,2 members are of the YPP and 1 member is of APC .

Some of the House members elect include, Erondu Uchenna Erondu for Obingwa West state Constituency under PDP, Destiny Akaraka Aba North of Labour Party,Chimdi Nnamdi Ibekwe Bende North under PDP ,Hon Mandela Obasi Ohafia North under PDP, Nwoke Kalu Ohafia South under Labour, Nwogu Iheanacho Osisioma North under YPP, Mathias Ume Umunneochi state Constituency under Labour,Akaniro Anderson Umuahia North,APC ,Obioma Emeka, Umuahia South Labour Party among others.

Responding on behalf of other House of Assembly members elect,Ibekwe Chimdi Nnamdi said the elected members will not disappoint Ndi Abia, assured that people will witness a New Abia.
