Insecurity: S/East CAN urge Govt. to engage Legionaries  as Consultants to curb criminal activities in the country

The South-East Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN )Reverend Father Dr Abraham Nwali, has urged both the Federal and State governments in the country to engage Legionaries as Consultants to curb the menace of insecurity and other criminal activities in the country .

 

Rev Father Nwali who doubles as the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Umahi on Religious/Welfare  Matters, made the assertion at the Saint Paul Parish Onuebonyi Ebonyi State , while delivering a Sermon on the occasion of the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Thanksgiving Service held to celebrate  fallen heroes in the country.

 

The CAN Chairman said that government at all Levels must revive musheums, Libraries, archives, where History of the Archives of the State can be seen.

 

He said that lack of Intelligence Gathering to combat insecurity was due to non-engagement of Legionaries as Consultants.

 

“We have no respect for History, our nation have no archives, we do not have respect for ex-military officers*

 

“Government must provide for Legionaries, provide medicare and free education for their children*

 

According to him, the event was organized by CAN in conjunction with the Ebonyi State Government to honour members of the Armed Forces for their  services to the country.

 

“Government must have Housing Estates  for ex-service men, provide scholarship for their kids, provide enabling enviroments for activities to strive’

 

Earliet in a remark, the Ebonyi State Chairman of Nigerian  Legion Captain Fidelis Ogodo, commended Governor David Umahi for the support and assistance rendered to the Legionaries.

 

“In the past six years of Umahi administration, every ex-service man of Ebonyi State origin get N10,000 monthly stipend”

 

“Ex-Service men can play significant roles by providing security, we Legionaries can deal with criminal issues”

 

The Armed Forces  Remembrance Day celebration was witnessed by members of the Christian Association of Nigeria, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Francis Nwifuru, members of the Nigerian Legion, members of the State Executive Council, Chairman of Ebonyi State Elders Council Engr Ben Okah among others.
