Some youths particularly Young graduates of the south east extraction have called on the authorities of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to review their plans to post young graduates from the zone to the troubled zones in the northern part of the country.
Rising from their three hours meeting in OWERRI Imo state capital Wednesday, the youth group which called it’s self ‘ concerned young graduates’ explained that the recent spate of insecurity in the mentioned regions of the Northern part of the country informed their decision
According to the group,” we decided to henceforth reject such postings because it been obvious that the scheme and even the federal government can no longer guarantee our safety in the affected zones”
The group further said ” we appreciate the reason for the establishment of the scheme by the federal government of Nigeria but this has been overtaken by the current state of insecurity in the affected zones ”
According to the group, It is on record that in the recent past so many corp members lost their lives in the hands of the mindless and ungodly members of the insurgents
They insisted ” the federal government up till now can not rise up to the challenges of insecurity in the country, we are afraid no body would want to die while serving his father land”
The youths suggested that the best thing the NYSC, can do would be to start deploying corp members to their zones of origin pointing out that any thing short of this is not acceptable to the any more.
