…as Council imposes curfew on border communities
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State on Wednesday unveiled members of the newly formed South-East security Outfit codenamed “Ebubeagu”for commencement of operations in the State.
In a related development , the Ebonyi State Government has imposed curfew in all border communities with effect from Wednesday 28th April 2021 to curtail the menace of criminality in the State.
Umahi made the declaration at the Government House abakaliki on Wednesday while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Security Council meeting.
He reiterated his support on the call for the Federal Government to convoke a Security Summit to discuss security challenges confronting the nation.
“We must talk, when we allow people to come and talk, we heal our wounds, leaders must be cautious of their utterances, our leaders are talking anyhow”
On the killing of some military personnel in the state on Tuesday, Umahi directed the security agencies to fish out the killers within 72 hours.
According to him, “Curfew has been imposes in all exit and entrance points in border communities across the state, all border entrance from 8 pm till 6am
“All wake keeps in the state must end by 6pm, all Night Clubs must not go beyond 6pm, if you defy this we will prosecute you, we will do everything to secure the lives of our people”
Speaking against the backdrop of purveyors of fake news in the Social Media, Umahi said that the State Government has directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute anybody involved in the dissemination of fake news.
“If you post fake news, you should be cracked down and prosecuted, if you get fake news do not post, “
