Kaduna Electric has said that it welcomes the May 1 deadline issued by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) for the roll out of mass metering under the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) regulation.
It said this in a statement signed by the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, in Kaduna.
The statement said the company whose franchise states include Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara has reached the final stage of its negotiations with the MAP vendors and expects the roll out as directed by the regulator.
It said the only issue left to be agreed upon between Kaduna Electric and the vendors had to do with one ot two logistical issues but it is confident that all knotty issues would be agreed upon before the commencement date.
The statement further said that Kaduna Electric was ready to work with the set NERC price of N36,991 and N67,055 for single phase and triple phase meters respectively and is confident the vendors will also do the same.
While urging customers to embrace the initiative, it said the mass meter roll out under MAP is indeed a new dawn in the power sector which will help in bridging the meter gap in the country.
It said the roll out will also significantly reduce the contentious issue of over-billing currently being grappled with by customers and ensure every electricity user pays appropriately for what he or she consumes.
Kaduna Electric called on its customers to shun all forms of energy theft, meter bypass and tampering which are acts that hamper efficient service delivery to customers.
