.Court not ready to entertain Kanu’s case-NCP

Business activities were yesterday paralysed in Onitsha and environs, Anambra state, in solidarity to Nnamdi Kanu over his trial billed  for mention last Monday.

Consequently, all markets in Onitha, Ogbaru, Ogidi, Nkpor, among others were shut and major roads that included the ever-busy Onitsha/Owerri road, Onitsha/Enugu expressway and Onitsha/Asaba/Benin/Lagos expressway blocked which forced inter state travellers to be stranded.

However, the Onitsha end of the Niger Bridge head approach was not blocked as inter state road users passed through the bridge smoothly.

At Onitsha/Owerri road, suspected IPOB members masked themselves, made bon fires wth used tyres and turned road users back to their respective homes on the process.

The popular Onitsha main market was completely shut down and commercial buses that normally ply to and from Onitsha were nowhere to be seen even as few tricycles operated out of fear of attack by IPOB members.

Most of the roads that were deserted included, old market , new market, Oguta, Awka, bright street, Ojedi and Zik’s Avenue, among others.

A trader who pleade anonymity told this paper that, “this is to tell the Federal Government that if anything happens to Kanu we will set the country on fire. This is just the beginning”

“Let me also warn that Sunday Ugbohor should be set free as whar he is doing is legal, he is a freedom fighter like Kanu” he warned.

At the court premises the gates were under lock and key as the judicial staff were nowhere to be seen.

The only one met at the High court gate told this repouter that, “we are on holiday today because IPOB said we should be at home irrespective of who you are”.

At the popular post office axis where all newspaper stands are located, free readers and IPOB members capitalized on the present situation to crack jokes and discuss on the Nnamdi Kanu’s court saga.

It was gathered that IPOB had, late on Sunday, sent out signals asking its members to enforce a sit-at-home protest in the South-East because of the case of Nnamdi Kanu, coming up on Monday [today] in Abuja.

A source said, “We got the signal very late in Awka. So, we could not mobilise to protest in Awka as they are doing in Nnewi and Onitsha. That’s why noting is happening in Awka and environs.”

Sources in Onitsha said youths suspected to be members of IPOB made bonfire in most streets , while also ordering vehicles entering the city to turn back.

A trader in Onitsha, Ifeayi Okenwa said they heard the rumour yesterday that markets would be locked from business today (Monday).

He said, “This morning we found out that people were making bonfire everywhere in the city.

“Nobody has spoken to us about what is happening, but we learnt that it is IPOB that is trying to force people to stay at home in solidarity with Nnamdi Kanu who is appearing in court today.”

Commercial activities were however going on without hitches in Awka, the capital city of Anambra State but banks premises were placed under lock and key.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Ikenga Tochukwu said nomalcy is returning to the city.

He thanked members of the Vigilante and other security agencies for helping to remove the road blocks and pittong off the bon fires.

“Police is patrolling the city to ensure there’s no breakdown of law and order. Nomalcy is returning and everywhere is calm.”

Court not ready to entertain Kanu’s case-NCP

By Phil Okose Onitsha

The Anambra state chairman of National Conscience Party, NCP, comrade Peter Okala, hinted that with the adjournment of Nnamdi Kanu’s case to 21st October 2021, by justice Binta Nyako of an Abuja high court, it was a clear indication that the court was not ready to entertain the matter.

Okala, an activist also, posited that the Federal Government through the court had over a month ego fixed 26th July 2021 as the day for the hearing the matter and wondered how the case was adjourned over frivolous logistics reason.

“That shows the life of an Igbo man does not matter. The suit would have been entertained if the Igboman is not a dot in a circle as President Muhammadu Buhari said”

“A blind man would have seen that anything about our law is designed against Igboman. They have already shown the sign a month ego by fixing the matter Monday”

“In the wisdom of the court they said the hearing will commence today. Kanu was adopted and his lawyer, Ejiofor, has been calling to know the
circumstamces under which he was adopted”

“The nakedness of the truth against Igboman came to an open  when Mr President said that Igboman is a dot in a circle and as such has no way of escape”

He recalled what Ejiofor said after the invasion of Kanu’s house where 28 people were reportedly killed that, “two years after the case was filed in court it has not been entertained by the court. It shows life of an Igboman does not matter”

Frowning at the development he reiterated that, “very soon if the situation of the North monopolising the entire key positions and resources is not reversed there would be more agitations for freedom”.

Okala who hinted that the party is in a business of conscienceness, stated that it is one’s consciousness that makes one to feel for others.
