The Lagos State Government on Tuesday commenced the cleaning of the Ojodu-Berger median that has been defaced by open defecation.
The government also warned against the unhygienic practice.
Video shared by the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on X showed officials of the ministry cleaning up the Ojodu-Berger median.
“Lagos State commences clean-up of Ojodu-Berger median, warns against defecating on the road,” the commissioner wrote.
The median along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has been an eyesore due to open defection.
The PUNCH reported in January that the trend had become rampant as miscreants defaced the road median with faeces, thereby causing pedestrians who cross the expressway to cover their noses.
The median from Berger in Lagos State inward Kara, Warewa and Mowe in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State had become regular spots for the menace.
Residents in the area had usually raised the alarm that the strong smells that oozed from the locations were dangerous for personal hygiene.
