The Uwazuruike led Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, otherwise called Biafra Independent Movement, BIM,
yesterday, warned the Onitsha Police Command to stop her incessant arrest of MASSOB-BIM members in the interest of peaceful co-existence.
Sounding the note of warning while reacting to the alleged latest arrest of one of his members, Ikechukwu Aja, by the Onitsha Police Area Command on March 21, 2020, the Anambra North Minister of the movement, Elder Dennis Nwaorah, reiterated that, “as a non violent body struggling to actualize a Biafran state, MASSOB-BIM, would remain non violent in the face of the slightest unprovoked attack and clampdown on the movement by the police”.
He recalled that, “the arrested member did not commit any offence that warranted his arrest by the Onitsha police Area Commander, Mr John
Obuagbaka and his team on the day in question”
“The Onitsha Police command should not take our non violence approach for weakness, may be because we are not violent like IPOB they now feel they can even without the slightest provocation, descend upon us”
The Chief Minister who was flanked by his Director of Information, Charles Igbokwe, hinted further that, “the police headquarters at Awka has directed the Onitsha Police Area Commander to release Ikechukwu Aja but he refused”.
“Ikechukwu Aja was on March 21, 2021 arrested when he was returning to his residence at 3-3 after our meeting on the fateful day”
He urged Igbo leaders to prevail on the Police Area Commander to release Aja who he stated was unjustly arrested.
“There was another member, that court gave judgment in his favour and ordered the Onitsha Police Area Commander to release his car but he
has not, saying that nobody on earth would direct him on what to do”
He stated that, “the non violent approach was what enabled Uwazutuike to register Biafra with International communities that included, UN and UNPO”.
“The Area Commander is an Igbo man and any Igbo man who does not believe in the non violent approach in the struggle to actualize a Biafran state is a sabotuer”, he stated.
