Missing BRT bus passenger: Police call for information to aid investigation

Lagos State Police Command has appealed for information that could aid its ongoing investigation to unravel the disappearance of a passenger who boarded BRT bus.

 

Ms Ayanwole Oluwabamise, a 22-year-old lady boarded a BRT bus in Lagos from Chevron bus stop, Lekki, heading to Oshodi on 26th February, 2022 at about 1900hrs and has not been seen till date.

 

Sensing danger as the bus did not pick any other passenger at subsequent bus stops, Oluwabamise engaged a friend using voice notes on her phone.

 

The voice notes showed that the bus driver said he liked Oluwabamise and asked for her name and other details.

 

She told her friend to pray for her as she became suspicious of the bus driver and in response, the friend told her to alight at Oworonsoki bus stop, way before Oshodi bus stop.

 

Oluwabamise also sent a video to her friend showing how dark it was in the bus and said: “there are three men and one woman in the bus. The woman is sitting at the back. That’s the number of the bus in case. Please pray for me.’’

 

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, it stated, “As soon as the report got to the police, investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the lady was immediately initiated.

 

“To ensure a speedy and diligent investigation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, mnim, psc, immediately directed the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti to take over the case.

 

“In the course of ongoing investigation, two suspects have been arrested and are currently helping in our investigation.

 

“While assuring that police detectives will continue to work assiduously to find the missing lady and bring her abductors to justice, the Command wishes to appeal to anyone with useful information that could help in our investigation to promptly give it to us for further necessary actions.

 

“Subject who hails from Moba L.G.A. in Ekiti State, is about 5 feet plus tall, dark in complexion and speaks Yoruba and English languages well.
