NCC Sensitisies Telecom Subscribers on Issues on Consumer’s Rights.

The Nigerian Communications Commission NCC on Tuesday celebrated the 2020 World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) with the theme ‘Fair Digital Finance’ to world Consumer Rights Day marked  annually on 15th March.

 

Executive Vice Chairman EVC and Chief Executive Officer CEO of the NCC Prof Umar Garba Dambatta spoke extensively on the imperatives of protection of telecom consumers’s right at a press conference marking the event

 

He hinted that as a guiding principle, the Commission is driven by guiding principles of (fair, firm and forthright) in carrying out its duties and functions as the National Telecommunications Regulator.

 

The agency vision he also stated is to ensure universal access to affordable and equitable service and to support  the nation’s economic growth.

 

The idea of a Consumer’s Rights Day he said is to ensure that all consumers of telecommunications services in Nigeria are well informed and satisfied of telecom services.

 

The Nigeria Communications Commission NCC as stated in Chapter V11 of the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA 2003) in particular part 1 of the chapter deals with Consumer Protection and Quality of Service has the mandate to protect,inform and educate the consumer.

 

Many key stakeholders in the telecoms regulation sector including executive commissioners of the NCC and top executives of telecommunications companies operating in Nigeria graced the occasion and sent in thier good will messages to the Commission.
