The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Command and Staff college Jos has graduated about 280 first pioneer set of staff course 01/2023.
Our correspondent gathered that the NSCDC first set of course participants/trainees which were drawn from the 36 state commands including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja commenced training on the 19th May, 2023 after the college facility was donated by Plateau state Government and commissioned by former president Muhammadu Buhari.
It was also observed that out of the 280 pioneer set graduands of course 01/2023, there are 176 male while 104 are female.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony Monday, held at the NSCDC Command and staff College Jos, Commandant General NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, revealed the course which lasted the duration of three months is to further boost the capacity of the Corps operatives as they remain resolute, determined and committed to the development of the skills, competence and professionalism of the Corps personnel.
“It is however, expedient to inform you that this is the first in the series of capacity building programmed lined up to prepare the Corps personnel physically, mentally and psychologically for the task ahead.
“The underlying factor is to rejig, reposition, revitalize, re-engineer and reinvigorate the Corps operational machinery, mechanism to give the Corps its pride of place within the country’s security architecture.
“I congratulates the graduands for the great opportunity of being the first set of graduands at this heritage of advancement and development”, the Commandant General noted.
The Commandant, NSCDC Command and staff college, Jos, ACG David Urbanus Bills acknowledged the subjects studied by participants during the course were staff duties, general studies, administration and logistics, intelligence, investigation, humanitarian emergency support studies and geographical studies which presents a complete picture of the practical operation in all its complexity and magnitude.
Noting, ” this was followed by orientation on the organization, combat characteristics, techniques, logistics, and communications of the NSCDC and the role of staff officers or commanding officers in the service. ”
While appreciating Governor Caleb Mutfwang led administration in Plateau for supporting the command, he appealed for more support and collaboration to enhance more robust and effective service delivery in the college.
