The Fegge, Onitsha, Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Anambra State, Mr. Rabiu Garba, (CSP) has won the 2020 Best Security Officer in Nigeria because of his sound professional approach in tackling the complex security challenges bedeviling the coutry.
The award which was organised by civil society groups, Network of Crisis Management team in conjunction with Emergency Digestion Publication, was to strengthen conventional security officers who have consistently displayed professionalism in their line of duty.
The panel of jury was headed by A .V.M. Mohammed Audu-Bida who chaired the nomination process.
In a press release to newsmen in Onitsha, the award ceremony which was held in Abuja, attracted notable personalities, including lawmaker
representing Onitsha North/South in the National Assembly, Hon. Lynda Chuba-Ikpeazu who presented the award to the recipient.
While presenting the award to Mr.Garba, Hon .Ikpeazu appreciated efforts made by the DPO in tackling the security challenges confronting her constituency and described the recipient as a
combatant and dedicated police officer in which she was proud to be associated with.
In his remark shortly after receiving the award, Mr.Garba said he was dedicating the award to armless civilian society and other fallen heroes who lost their lives for the good of the country.
The gallant police officer who shocked the audience in his speech explained that the civilian society have powers to express themselves, while the police own the duty to protect lives of innocent citizens., including the police.
The professionalism and wisdom in which the police officer applied in safe-guarding lives and public institutions during the Endsars protests when some angry mob attempted to burn down the police station and his consistent hostile approach to crime must have earned him the recognition .
