Osun governorship race: Oyetola’s ally declares interest, says ‘am competent to run

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Bola Oyebamiji, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

Oyebamiji, an ally of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, made the announcement while addressing the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osogbo, on Tuesday.

Addressing newsmen at the event, Oyebamiji declared that he is competent to govern the state, stressing that he has years of experience in both in the public and private sectors.

According to him, “I am here today to honor the party’s structure and inform the party leadership of my intention to run for governor of the state in 2026.

“For us to start any advocacy or campaign,n we have to come here to have their blessing and to communicate my interest today.

“Yes, I am from the West. For equity and justice, we are appealing to our leaders to look into that senatorial district so that we can balance the equation.

“However, in the west, north, and east central, Bola Oyebamiji is competent to run for the governorship race.

“I have been in this government for almost 15 years, have worked with the highest leadership of the party, and have spent 28 years in the private enterprise, combine together I have what it takes to run a good government if given the opportunity.”
