National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdulahi Adamu, has charged members of the National Campaign Council for Osun governorship election to do everything possible to win the poll.

Adamu, who gave the charge Thursday at the national secretariat of APC while inaugurating the Campaign Council, stressed that the party would not tolerate failure in whatever form at the poll.

The National Chairman urged the Council to recreate the feat achieved in the neighboring Ekiti State where candidate of APC, Biodun Oyebanji, defeated other contestants with wide margin to emerge governor-elect.

He reminded them that success in this election would be a good omen to the party’s chances in the 2023 general elections.

“The next hurdle we have is to confront with all vigour, with all strength that we can muster, the forth coming Osun State governorship election.

“I was told that the Governorship candidate of the opposition is a money bag. So, we must be prepared to face him eyeball to eyeball. We are going there to win and that plan to win, the ability to execute the plan rest with the leadership that this Council is going to provide in the campaign efforts.

“I urge you to leave no stone unturned, I urge you to go there and do whatever is doable in the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Electoral law to win.

“My tolerance level and this National Working Committee level for failure is really, really zero.

“Nobody should come back to us crying, failure is not our own by the grace of God.  Whatever it takes within the laws of the land, I said go for it, win the election.

“Let them go and complain, let them go wherever, let’s win the election, we have no apologies whatsoever for this posture because these two elections will prepare us for the national election coming up in 2023.

“Note that these elections are first steps we are taking towards victory in 2023; we must not play with this, we start preparing for these now. We are winning the battle of the states, but the real war to be won is  the presidential election in 2023”, Adamu stated.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had fixed July 16 for the Osun governoship election in which the incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola is seeking a re-election.

The 86-member Campaign Council, which is chaired by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and co-chaired by Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, comprises of 20 APC Governors, former and serving Ministers, current and past members of National Assembly and other party stalwarts.

In his remarks, the co-chairman of the council, Gov. Ganduje emphasized the need for reconciliation among party stakeholders in Osun as an essential key to success in the election.

“One important issue about Osun election is reconciliation. Internal dynamics of the party is very important.

“So, reconciliation is totally necessary so that we will believe in each other. We agreed that all stakeholders in Osun State will come together and constitute into one single force in order to win this important election.

“I am happy the secretary of our great party is from Osun state and I think he is very useful to this election in osun state. Some of us who participated in the last election that brought the current governor into office, we knew the interplay of variables that took place. And that led us to a new terminology in election, inconclusive election.

“I assure you Mr. Chairman, this time this election will be conclusively conclusive. I believe the stakeholders in Osun State will add value to their preparedness and ensure that the 30 LGAs in Osun State leadership have all prepared for this election”, he said
