PMS production: NUPENG hails Dangote, vows to defend product

The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has commended Aliko Dangote and the entire staff of the company over the feat achieved with the production of petroleum product (fuel) and vowed to assist the company in protecting the gasoline

NUPEND said the development has placed the company at the top of the pyramid of excellence and innovation, maintaining that Nigerians would be relieved of some economic burden in the country.

The union, in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Labi Olawale said it is aware of the works of the enemies of ,Nigerians to sabotage the project, but vowed to assist the company in protecting the product.

It reads: “The leadership and entire members of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), celebrate and felicitate with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiko Dangote and the entire Management team and Staff of Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company on the historic and landmark commencement of the production of Gasoline, otherwise known as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) on the glorious day of Sunday, the 1st day of September 2024.

“This day has been long anticipated and awaited with bated breath and prayers not only by Nigerians but by the entire Continent of Africa. We are very proud of you, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, you are a man with uncommon courage and determination. You have dared to dream and tread where no mortal has ever done.

“This remarkable achievement as the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery and petrochemical plant is a testament to your unwavering commitment, innovation, and excellence in the energy sector.

“We recognize the immense efforts and dedication that have gone into making this vision a reality. The successful production of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at this state of the-art facility not only marks a significant milestone for Dangote Refinery but also represents a monumental step forward for Nigeria’s energy independence and economic growth.

“Alhaji Aliko Dangote, your visionary leadership and relentless pursuit of excellence have been instrumental in achieving this feat. Your contributions to the industrialization and economic development of Africa are truly commendable, and we are proud to witness the positive impact of your endeavours on our nation.

“As a union dedicated to the welfare and advancement of workers in the petroleum and natural gas industry, NUPENG is excited about the opportunities this development will bring in terms of employment for Nigerians socioeconomic life, prosperity and monumental growth of our dear country.

“And we are also not unmindful of the plots and schemes of sworn enemies of the masses and nation’s economic saboteurs to derail the wheels of progress of this wonderful trail blazing train, but as NUPENG, we pledge to make available all our might and resources to defend and protect this beautiful African pride”.

“Once again, congratulations on this historic achievement. We wish you continued success and prosperity in all your future endeavours”. Tinubu Meets Chinese Premier, Says Africa Holds Vast Opportunities For Investments, Growth And Development

President Bola Tinubu says Africa holds vast opportunities for investments, growth, and development with its vibrant population, productive economy, and natural resources.

Speaking at a bilateral meeting on Wednesday in Beijing, China, with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, President Tinubu commended the role of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in advancing partnership between Africa and China for mutual development and prosperity.

”The African spirit for FOCAC is based upon mutual respect and partnership that promotes development, happiness, peace, and stability for our people. We are in this journey together. We believe that we share common interests, which are investments and development.

”For me, as a Nigerian and as Chairman of ECOWAS, I am happy that the strategic partnership being promoted is acceptable to both sides and this is the way to go,” the President said.

President Tinubu also called for a strategic focus on areas of collaboration that will ensure the relationship remains mutually beneficial.

“Africa is a huge opportunity for economic development. As great people, we are willing to partner for progress and development. What is most important will be the focus of FOCAC in areas on which we can collaborate to make the relationship mutually beneficial to all of us,” President Tinubu stated.

The President, who is in Beijing for the ninth FOCAC, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception extended to him and his delegation by the Chinese government.

“I thank you for receiving us warmly. I am happy, despite the jetlag; we were well received and we are ready to move the ball,” the President concluded.

The Premier said China is ready to work with Nigeria to deliver on the mutual understanding reached by President Xi Jinping and President Tinubu under the recently established comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
