The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen Toyota Camry in Akure.

In a statement on Tuesday signed by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Command said the breakthrough followed the investigation of a case of conspiracy, stealing, and receiving stolen property.

The statement said the case was reported on February 27, 2026, by one Adeyemi Robert, who stated that on February 14, 2026, he attended a social event at Sijuade Street, Akure, where he parked his Toyota Camry saloon car with registration number AH173WWD, custom colour, in front of the venue.

According to the complainant, “upon returning after the event, he discovered that the vehicle had been stolen by unknown persons.”

The Command said detectives immediately commenced an investigation into the matter, deploying intelligence gathering and other investigative strategies to recover the stolen vehicle and apprehend those responsible.

“Through diligent investigative efforts, police operatives successfully traced the stolen vehicle to one Awolo Akingbade ‘M’, aged 40 years, who was found in possession of the car. He was immediately invited for questioning,” the statement said.

It added that further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been sold to him by the principal suspect, identified as Adeyemi David, who was subsequently arrested.

“Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect allegedly stole the vehicle and disposed of it by selling it to the said buyer,” the statement said.

The police said the stolen Toyota Camry has been recovered and brought to the station as an exhibit, while both suspects have assisted with useful information to aid the investigation.

“The suspects have been charged in court upon conclusion of the investigation,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their diligence and professionalism, which led to the recovery of the vehicle and arrest of the suspects.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state and warned individuals involved in criminal activities to desist.

The Command also encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide “timely, credible and actionable information” to assist in preventing and combating crime in the state.
