The Plateau State Police Command on Friday said it had commenced investigation into the burning of the house of Michal Adanchi, the district head of the Bokkos town in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state during a protest by some women in the community.

It was gathered that the women set the house ablaze at about 12:30am on Friday, following the arrest of some members of the community over alleged involvement in the recent killings in the area.

Recently, some villages in the state were attacked a few days before Christmas, which led to the loss of lives of more than 150 people and property worth millions of naira destroyed with over 10,000 people displaced.

Speaking with Saturday Punch, the spokesperson for the command, Alabo Alfred, said that calm had been restored in the area.

He said, “We have restored calmness to the area and we are doing a lot. Because of strategy purposes, I cannot tell you. We are doing a lot and we have restored peace to the area. We are working on the arrest and I will give you feedback very soon.”

He added that the command was working to bring the perpetrators to justice.
