NYV Lens, an indigenous photography outfit has announced its plan for the Nigerian arts and entertainment industry. Building on his strategy to have a robust presence, the exhibitor, Alvin Ukpeh, a native of Akwa Ibom state, is set to hold his first solo exhibition in Lagos. The event is taking place at the prestigious South Eatery and Social House located at 92 Younis Bashorun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, 14th – Sunday 15th August, 2021. Alvin Ukpeh started NYV Lens eight years ago through his love for arts which eventually developed into a passion for photography. While most art shows in Nigeria focus primarily on paintings, drawings and sculptures, Alvin saw the need to fill the gap in the exhibition sector of Nigeria’s photography culture, showcasing his work with the hope to inspire other photographers to expand into these more creative areas.

The 2-day exhibition is a visual representation themed around Solitude which captures the unique identity and value proposition of the exhibitor. “NYV Lens continuous to evolve, bringing an innovative feel that will redefine photography business in Nigeria with a commitment to delivering first class services tailored to the entertainment and corporate world”, said the exhibitor, Alvin Ukpeh.

This exhibition is expected to feature guests across Nigeria including local and foreign art lovers and celebrities in the Art and Entertainment industry such as Ona Priddy, Creative Director, RedTV, Obinna Okerekeocha, and a host of other internationally renowned curators. The exhibition aims to  unite local and international artists through the exploration of contemporary social issues and images that encapsulate individual experiences and identities from across all of Nigeria and Africa, leveraging photography as a powerful medium of expression.

Nigeria is a country with vibrant young and talented youths such as Alvin, who, through his work over the years, has demonstrated his vision for the arts and entratainment industry, as well as strong emotional connections to his cultural background which is rooted in a belief in God and passion to have and chase one’s passion until fruition.

“While others are focused mainly on portrait shoots, I have quickly expanded my content beyond portraits, to cover other salient areas, including landscape photography, concept photography, product shoots, photojournalism, street photography and much more”, he said. My vision is to grow and become a major player in the arts and entertainment industry with major footprints in the fashion and corporate sectors. I want the brand to be known as a one-stop shop for the entertainment and corporate world”, Alvin said.

Adhering to the theme Solitude, attendees should expect to be treated to images depicting a collocation of sceneries and cultural references, as well as view photo displays that would transport them across borders.
