The House of Representatives on Thursday scrapped the N5.095 billion budgetary allocation of the Presidential Yatch moving the proposed sum to student loan thereby increasing allocation for student loan to 10bn as against 5. 5bn
The Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations Hon.Abubakar Bichi disclosed this on Thursday while addressing newsmen after presenting the report of the Committee at the House plenary.
He said the need became necessary following low budgetary allocation for students .
The Committee also increased budgetary allocation of ministry of Defence from 476bn to 546bn following security concerns
Bichi also disclosed that the minimum wage for workers was considered and approved for onward transmission to the executive while promising proper legislative oversight to ensure 100 percent implementation
The sum of N100bn was retained for FCT as requested by the minister of FCT Mr Nyesom Wike
To this end the House presided by the Speaker Hon.Tajudeen Abbas passed the sum of 2.177 trillion as the 2023 supplementary budget into law.
