The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Hon Francis Nwifuru, has reiterated that the South_East geo-political zone of the country deserves to be given the presidential ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC) come 2023.
Hon Nwifuru made the declaration in abakaliki on Monday while receiving a 7- man delegation from Kogi State House of Assembly led by the Speaker Hon. Mathew Kolawole, who were in the State to solicit support from Ebonyi State.
He noted that based on equity the south east zone deserves to occupy the number 1 position in the country stating “if the party zones the presidential ticket to the zone, Governor Umahi should be supported to emerge victorious come 2023″
Hon Nwifuru reiterated that the Lawmakers would support any person chosen by the APC to fly the party Presidential ticket, noting that the party we supreme.
Earlier in his speech, the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly Hon Matthew Kolawole, revealed that Governor Yahaya Bello, will contest the 2023 Presidency, saying he was the best candidate to rule Nigeria.
Kolawole said Governor Bello has performed admirably and won several awards epecially on security, which indicated he could handle the security challenges in the country.
The Kogi Speaker said that they were in Ebonyi State to solicit Support from Ebonyi State Legislators, noted that the North-Central and South -East regions deserved consideration for the positions of Nigeria President and Vice President in 2023 respectively.
He explained that the two geographical zones had not been given opportunity to mount the saddle of the nation’s Presidency.
According to him, ” Governor David Umahi’s decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress, was in the best interest of the region.
He opined,”Your people will benefit more now that Governor Umahi has joined the mainstream of the Progressive Party in Nigeria , the All Progressive Congress (APC)”
