Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the weekend said the government is poised to work with all stakeholders within the state to realize greater Lagos dream of the present administration.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, who spoke on behalf of the Governor gave this charge at the third edition of Greater Lagos Initiative Summit at Adeyemi Bero, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.

The theme for the 2023 summit, “Renewed Hope Agenda for a greater Lagos Rising and the need for societal collaboration.”

Omotoso said, “the greater Lagos initiative is a programme that has been on since 2018/2019. It is to promote Lagos and the administration of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and all good things that the government is doing in Lagos State to bridge the perceived gap between the people and the government.

“In general, it is to enlighten Lagosians, to let them know that the success of the government is the success of everybody who has found Lagos as his or her own Cananland.

“We will do whatever we can do to add to what we are doing to make Lagos one of the best cities in the world. Lagosians will come here to fufil their dreams and contribute their quota to make Lagos great,” he noted.

Speaking on the feedback from the past editions, Omotoso said, “From the kind of people here., professors, men of God, ordinary citizens and professionals, you can see they the organizers are really being able to attract the kind of people.

“We want to work together, to see that Lagos continue to grow and that it gets to to greater destination. I feel, with my assessment, they have really done well, if not, we will not have these kind of people here today.”

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Lagos branch Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite said, “For us, anything that will bring great things to Lagos, we will support it and that is why I’m here as the chairman of CAN in Lagos

“The most important is to have a greater Lagos of our dream which Mr Governor is doing with all tenacity, dedication and commitment and we will continue to support him with our prayers and I will encourage all Lagosians to continue to pray for Mr Goverbor, pray for the cabinet members and also for our nation,” Adegbite said

He believes there was the need to continue to co-exist peacefully. He noted, “You can see, while they were reciting fathia, I also joined. For us in Lagos and South west, we don’t fight about religion, we are one because we are interwoven, inter-related and inter-connected and we must work together.”

“At this time of Christmas, it is a period of giving, it is a period of peace and that is why Christ came into this world.

“Lagosians and Nigerians must ensure that they embrace peace and that is why in Roman 12: 17, as much as there is live within you, let’s live in peace and order.

“By the special grace of God, we are going to experience a better Nigeria and a better Lagos and a new Lagos,” he prayed.

The organizer of the summit, who is the President of Greater Lagos Initiative, Prince Adeniyi Olutimehin pointed out that, “It is very essential for Government and the people always to have this kind of interaction so that they can understand the programme of government and the government wii hear from them and know where the shoe pinches. It will assist the government in designing its policy progrmmes.”

Giving an insight to the theme of the summit, Olutimehin said, “When we looked at the present administration, they have come up with a a renewed hope agenda and in Lagos, we are on the same paget to advance development of the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“The summit will make impact in the lives of the people. It is to create a synergy between Lagos people’s project. It is a kind of initiative between the public and private sector. How we are going to empower a lot of people.”
