Senate passes amended N819bn 2022 Supplementary budget as NASS takes N70bn

Meanwhile, the Senate has passed a bill seeking to amend the 2022 Supplementary budget of N819 billion, out of which N500 billion will be used as palliatives to cushion the effect of subsidy removal.

 

The supplementary Appropriation was passed by the 10th Assembly and assented to by former President Muhammadu Buhari for the purpose of addressing flooding that affected parts of the country in 2022.

 

With the passage, the Presidency can access N500 billion in view of the exigency of the subsidy removal palliatives.

 

With the approval, 12 million Nigerians will get N8,000 for a period of six months through digital transfers made directly to beneficiaries’ accounts and mobile wallets.

 

 

The breakdown of the approval for supplementary budget showed that N500 billion for palliatives and other capital expenditure to cushion the effect of recent subsidy removal policy.

 

Also, .N185.2 billion to Ministry of Works and Housing to alleviate the impact of the severe flooding experienced in the country in 2022 on road infrastructure across the 6 geopolitical zones.

 

In addition, N19.2 billion to Federal Ministry of Agriculture to ameliorate the massive destruction to farmlands across the country during the severe flooding experienced last year while N35 billion to National Judicial Council

 

Another N10 billion to Federal Capital Territory Administration for critical projects and N70 billion to National Assembly to support the working conditions of new members
