Serial child trafficker who  specializes  in snatching/stealing children from their parents for sale had been arrested by the   Police  in Imo

The PPRO-Michael Abattam, (CSP)  disclosed this pointing out that the suspect Uche Ibekwe aged 28 year is  from Amagu Amandimogu Eziaku local government area of Enugu state

According to him, sometime in February, this year  suspect allegedly stole  a one year and six months old baby girl from one Chinenye Onu from  Abakiliki, Ebonyi state.

 Abattam  ” said the suspect stole the baby  after deceiving Chinenye  who was carrying the baby and took her to Umuahia in  Abia state where he allegedly sold her

The Police image maker disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri during which he paraded the suspect along with other suspects arrested in connection with sundry criminal activities such as terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery and murder.

“When Chinenye Onu later disturbed him to return her child, he convinced the lady that he wanted to take her to where the baby was kept.

On reaching a lonely Owerri/Umuahia Road, he deceived the lady that his vehicle had developed a fault, told her (the lady) to alight from the car, bend and check under the car and upon compliance, the suspect used an iron rod and hit her on the head. She slumped and he used his Avalon car and crushed her to death”.

According to Abattam, the suspects confessed to the crime of child trafficking/murder while investigation had commenced.

Similarly, Abattam said that Njoku Kelechi aged 22 “m”, Obioha Mmesoma Bruno aged 19 years “m” Opara Godwin aged 17 years “m” and Abasirim Onyedikachi aged 21 years of Amaimo, in the Ikeduru Council Area of the State were equally nabbed in connection with conspiracy and self kidnapping.

Giving a graphic picture of the incident, he said that the sister of one of the suspects- one Vivian Iwuama-a staff of the FRSC on the 11th of June this year reported that her brother-Obioha Mmesoma Bruno was kidnapped and that the kidnappers had sent a video of the victim being dehumanized, tied and tortured in the hostage camp with a demand of N5million ransom to release the victim.

The video, which he said looked so disgusting and sympathetic where the alleged victim was seen tied and screaming for help was sent to the operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for necessary action.

“On receipt of the information and watching the video, operatives of the Anti-kidnapping unit swung into action, analyzed the kidnapping scenario, stormed and arrested the above named suspects who conspired among themselves to stage self kidnap of the alleged kidnapped victim -Obioha Mmesoma Bruno”.

The suspects, he said confessed to have gone into the criminality to collect money from the husband of the complainant.
