Barely 10 days after the confirmation of Kayode Egbetokun as the substantive Inspector-General of Police, no fewer than 40 senior police officers have been redeployed to different commands and formations across the country.
Egbetokun, who announced this in Abuja on Thursday, explained that the development was part of the mandate to have a professionally-competent, service-driven, rule of law compliant and people-friendly police force.
Speaking through the force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the top cop said the redeployment was also a means to reflect the new status of senior officers who were just recently elevated to their next ranks.
The police chief, while charging the new helmsmen in force to entrench professionalism, diligent policing services to all officers and men under their command by partnering with all relevant stakeholders to bring policing closer to the people, added that the posting was with immediate effect.
