-Rescue operation still ongoing
Tragedy occurred in the late hours of Sunday as 3-storey building collapsed at Freeman, Ibadan Street, Ebute Metta East area of Lagos State, leaving at two deaths and many trapped.
According to report, many persons were trapped under the rubble as not less than two bodies have already been recovered by rescue team.
The Public Affairs Officer of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA), Mr Nosa Okunbor who confirmed the incidents stated 22 males and 1 female had been rescued alive.
He added that one male and one female were recovered dead.
He explained that the Excavator and S&R machine were ground to help for search of more victims.
Rescue efforts were still ongoing by the Police, Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA, Fire and Rescue, LASEMA and FRSC were still at the scene as at the time of filing the report.
Also National Emergency Management Agency and Red Cross were present to assist in the search, beef up security and also give adequate treatment immediately.
According an eyewitness account who was one of the residents that did not want her name mentioned said that numbers of occupants trapped in the building were yet to be known.
She stated that the emergency toll free 767 and 112 were not picked up as at when due.
Meanwhile, advice was given to residents to keep praying for the victims and the emergency workers.
