Uche Marcus Okoro: A Trailblazer in Nigerian Labour Movement- NUPRC

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has recognized Comrade Uche Marcus Okoro as a trailblazer, being the only individual to have led both the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).

A press statement issued by Eniola Akinkuotu Head of Media and Strategic Communication, stated that this achievement showcases his exceptional leadership skills.

NUPRC has expressed solidarity with PENGASSAN as they mark the 20th anniversary of Okoro’s passing, who lost his life in the Sosoliso plane crash on December 10, 2005, the statement said.

The The statement reads in part: the Commission praised Okoro’s unwavering commitment to Nigerian oil workers, highlighting that PENGASSAN named its national headquarters “U.M Okoro House” in his honor.

NUPRC reaffirmed its dedication to staff welfare and development, acknowledging Okoro’s contributions.

The Commission also extended condolences to Okoro’s family, wishing them strength and comfort during this period.
